Thang-Ta will become an internationally recognised sport: S Rajen

Education Minister S Rajen Singh said that indigenous sport of Thang-Ta has become a recognized sport of the country.
It will soon become an international sport of the world, he added.
S Rajen was speaking as Chief Guest at the Reception Ceremony 26th National Thang-Ta Championship 2021 organised by Kanglei Thang Ta Sindam Sang, Maklang, Imphal West.
He said that Manipur is known as power House of Sports in the Country and it has produced legendary sports persons like MC Marry Kom.
A good number of sports persons have won National awards in the field of Sports.
Regarding Thang-Ta, S Rajen Said that it is with the help of these art form the seven years devastation was brought to an end (Chahi Taret Khuntakpa).
Manipur is so famous in this field.
There are Manipuri players in every sports event of India.
Forming a team of India without Manipur players become incomplete, he added.
Minister also maintained that along with sports the Government has initiated many Schemes to improve Education Sector.
He said that Government has launched National Education Policy, NEP-2020 with a vision to build a stronger nation.
Understanding the necessity of improving education sector of the country, NEP was launched by the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi in 2020.The indigenous form of Martial Arts of the State have also been preferred by the rest of the Country.
He also appeals to cooperate with the Government on the initiatives taken up to promote the indigenous games of Manipur.
Citing the example of Polo which has its origin in Manipur, Rajen explained that Manipuris can be proud of the Indigenous game of Polo in the World.
The reception ceremony was graced by H Premkumar Singh, Technical Director, World Thang - Ta Federation, M Pramo Devi, ZP Member Awang Khunou ZP, as President and Guest of respectively.
