Noted Kannada writer G Venkatasubbaiah passes away

Kannada lexicographe G Venkatasubbiah
MYSURU: Kannada lexicographer G Venkatasubbiah, who is known for receiving the Padma Shri award in 2017, passed away in Bengaluru.
Born on August 23, 1913 in Kaigonahalli village, he was a student of Yuvaraja and Maharaja's college in Mysuru.
Venkatasubbaiah started out as an English teacher in Mandya district.
Later, he moved to Bengaluru and served Vijaya college as the principal before retiring in 1973. He has written over 60 books.
Speaking to TOI, Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Manu Baligar condoled his death.
Recalling his contribution to the Kannada literally world, Baligar said that Venkatasubbiah served the parishat as president and presided over the Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahithya Sammelana.
"His service to the Kannada literary world is invaluable," he said.
