  • Alma Wahlberg has died at the age of 78.
  • Alma is best known for appearing in episodes of A&E's Wahlburgers and is mom to Mark and Donnie Wahlberg.
  • Her cause of death was not specified, but New Kids on the Block's Donnie Wahlberg previously shared that she was suffering from dementia.

Alma Wahlberg has died. She was 78 years old.

"My angel. Rest in peace," Mark Wahlberg wrote on Instagram on Sunday, while his brother, New Kids on the Block's Donnie Wahlberg previously shared that their mother was suffering from dementia, reports People.

"Like so many moms who struggled, overcame odds, made something from nothing and pulled off the impossible for their children, she never complained. She did what needed to be done, most often, with a smile. She made the best of times in the worst of times," Donnie Wahlberg wrote in a tribute to his mom on Instagram featuring a montage of clips set to Regina Belle's If I Could.

He explained of the first clip: "Her other favourite song, If I Could by Regina Belle, is the song that she danced with each of her children to, at their weddings. I surprised her at mine by having Ms Belle sing it to her."

He continued: "I did so because, despite the fact that my mom could do (and actually did) many of the things mentioned in that beautiful song, she still wondered if she'd done the job of being the best mother she could be. Today, I say with tremendous certainty, and gratitude, she absolutely did."

Alma appeared on A&E's Wahlburgers, the reality series showing a behind-the-scenes look at running the family restaurant headed by Boston-based chef Paul Wahlberg and featuring his brothers, reports Variety.

Alma married Donald E Wahlberg, whom she later divorced, and was mom to nine children: Arthur, James, Michelle, Paul, Tracey, Robert, Donnie, Mark and Debbie.
