Nigerian e-payment transactions rise to NGN 60 trln in Q1

The value of transactions via digital payment platforms, namely the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBBS) Instant Payment System (NIP) and Point of Sales (PoS) terminals, rose to NGN 60.34 trillion in the first quarter of 2021, The Punch reported. The two platforms recorded 87.1 percent growth in value of payments compared with an aggregate of NGN 32.25 trillion in Q1 2020. The NIP grossed NGN 58.85 trillion in Q1 2021 and PoS deals were worth NGN 1.49 trillion.
