NBA: Antron Pippen, the oldest son of Scottie Pippen, has passed away, the longtime NBA great said Monday. Pippen shared the news in an Instagram post accompanied by several photos of the two from over the years.
“The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game,” Pippen wrote. “Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would’ve made it to the NBA. He never let that get him down, though — Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became.”
Antron Pippen was 33. The cause of death was not given.

Scottie Pippen’s son Antron Pippen featured in 3 games in the 2008-09 season for Texas A&M International. He was a 6-foot-2 guard, and also played for South Georgia Technical College.
Scottie Pippen, who won six championships with the Chicago Bulls, had 8 children. Antron was the lone child from his first marriage, with Karen McCollum.
“Please keep his mom, Karen, and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers,” Pippen wrote. “A kind heart and beautiful soul gone way too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again.”
For someone with the last name “Pippen,” Antron maintained a very low profile. He seldom posted to his Facebook page. He did share some photos of him with his mother, Karen, but there are no recent pictures of the two of them together.
Scottie Pippen would go on to give Antron six half-siblings: Taylor Pippen, 26, (and her twin sister, Tyler Pippen, who tragically passed away in the hospital nine days after birth) with ex-girlfriend Sonya Roby; Sierra Pippen, 26, with ex-girlfriend Yvette Deleone; Scotty Pippen Jr., 20, Sophia Pippen, 12, Preston Pippen, 18, and Justin Pippen, 15, with estranged wife, Larsa Pippen.
