Digital skills: Training soon for school teachers

Gurgaon: As the classrooms have once again shrunk to tiny screens of smartphones and laptops, the state education department has decided to upgrade the digital skills of government school teachers by providing them dedicated training on online education.
The State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has designed a special training module for teachers. More than 3,500 teachers from over 100 blocks across 22 districts will be trained. The state government has allocated around Rs 20 lakh for this.
The move comes after NCERT concluded a nationwide training of teachers to create state resource groups that will later pass on training to teachers in their respective states. SCERT claimed Haryana is the first state to roll out the training module as prescribed by tNCERT.
“We are the first state to effectively roll out the training module. It is part of the nationwide programme to evolve the pedagogy in tandem with the current times,” an official said.
A 10-day training programme has been prepared by SCERT. Under this programme, over 3,500 teachers from different districts will be provided digital training to engage students in constructive learning. The first phase of the programme will be rolled out on April 26 and the second phase in the second week of May.
