The pool area at the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa leads directly out into Disney's California Adventure park
George Rose/Getty ImagesWhile Disneyland will only be open to California residents when it reopens April 30, the park opening its doors is an occasion that, for many, warrants a visit complete with a hotel stay. While the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel are closed indefinitely, Disney’s Grand Californian will reopen April 29. Here’s everything we know about staying at a Disney hotel for the Disneyland reopening and what’s going on with the hotels in Anaheim near Disneyland.
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel
It doesn’t get more convenient than the Grand Californian Hotel, the only one of Disneyland’s three hotels to open for the park’s reopening, which has a dedicated entrance directly into Disney California Adventure on the property. The hotel started taking reservations on April 15 for its April 29 reopening, but the virtual queue to book a room had people waiting for hours. If you make it through the queue, expect prices starting at $819 per night for Disneyland’s reopening on April 30, plus additional fees for parking. The upside: When it does reopen, the Grand Californian will have an all-new spa, and the pool and adjacent restaurant were refurbished just last year.
JW Marriott Anaheim

The new JW Marriott Anaheim is attached to Anaheim Garden Walk and has extensive amenities like a huge fitness center, a yoga and zen room, and an outdoor garden that grows produce for the hotel’s three restaurants. The standout among them: Parkestry, a rooftop bar and restaurant that directly overlooks Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. When fireworks at the parks resume, there will be no better vantage point for watching than from a table there. Rates start at $209 for Disneyland opening night, plus all-valet parking for a fee.
Radisson Blu Anaheim
The second swanky hotel to open near Disneyland during the park closure, the Radisson Blu Anaheim reopens for guests April 26. The hotel has a rooftop pool with an attached rooftop bar open in the evenings, and a more kid-friendly pool downstairs. There’s also a full-service restaurant and a grab-and-go on site, and rooms with bunk beds make for great family suite options. Rooms start at $191 for opening night, and parking is additional.
The Anaheim Hotel
This retro-themed motel feels a little bit like Tomorrowland, and is a good choice if you want to feel like you’re still in the Disney universe once you leave the park. Its location can’t be beat: directly across from the Harborside entrance — the historically less busy entrance — to Downtown Disney. During the park closure, the Anaheim Hotel was one of the go-to parking spots for visitors. On the property, there’s a huge pool where they show movies at night, and an on-site pizzeria. Rates start at $137 for opening night plus a small resort fee, and parking is extra.
Castle Inn & Suites
One of the iconic hotels near Disneyland where generations of kids have made memories, Castle Inn & Suites looks a lot like Sleeping Beauty Castle inside Disneyland Park. Inside, it’s more of a motel, but the price is right — starting at $109 for opening night, including free parking — and there’s a nice pool with two hot tubs outside. Castle Inn is one of the closest hotels to the parks for easy walking, and reopened for guests on April 16.
Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel
The other iconic castle hotel near Disneyland, the Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel is the one you drive past when you get off I-5 and head toward Disneyland Drive. This hotel is larger and has amenities like a video arcade and billiards room, but is a long enough walk from the parks that you’ll probably want to use their complimentary shuttle. Some rooms come with castle-themed bunk beds. The Anaheim Majestic will reopen for guests on April 29, and rates for opening night start at $144 with additional parking fees.
Disneyland also has nearly 40 Good Neighbor hotels that offer perks like park ticket purchasing from the hotel, and often with complimentary shuttle service for the parks. For a complete ranking, check out this ranking from DisneyTouristBlog.com.
