New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be in Abu Dhabi on Sunday for talks in the United Arab Emirates, which has been in the news for its reported mediating role between India and Pakistan.
The EAM has been invited to Abu Dhabi by UAE’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and he will discuss economic cooperation, said the Ministry of External Affairs.
“At the invitation of his counterpart, EAM @DrSJaishankar will be visiting Abu Dhabi on 18th April 2021. His discussions will focus on economic cooperation and community welfare,” MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a tweet.
Earlier on Saturday, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi arrived in Dubai on a three-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates.
The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said Qureshi will meet his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan and other officials during the visit.
Qureshi will hold consultations with the UAE's leadership on all areas of bilateral cooperation including collaboration in trade and investment.
Also, he will discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest.
On Wednesday, UAE's Ambassador to the US, Yousef Al Otaiba said that the Gulf country is mediating between India and Pakistan to help the two neighbours to have a “healthy and functional” relationship.
He was participating in a virtual discussion at Stanford University's Hoover Institution.
