The season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) means some outstanding breathtaking catches in the field. A few days ago, Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson flew towards his right to dismiss Shikhar Dhawan, behind the stumps and now on Sunday in the ongoing edition's first game, Rahul Tripathi plucked the ball while looking over his shoulder.

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli wanted to take on spinner Varun Chakravarthy and put him under pressure, However, the delivery which he chose to go after wasn't the ideal and to his dismay, he didn't get the ball from anywhere near the middle of the bat.

It was a tossed-up slower delivery and was still drifting away from the batsman. Kohli's bat turned on the impact and he ended up slicing it over covers, Tripathi ran back, kept his eyes on the ball throughout his sprint and held on to a sensational grab in front of his right shoulder.

Tripathi's catch meant RCB didn't have a favourable start after winning the toss and choosing to bat. Twitterati, on the other hand, couldn't resist heaping praise on the batsman's catch to dismiss the RCB skipper as for many fans, it was the 'catch of the tournament'.

Here are some of the reactions:
