Man arrested for cheating, selling costly cameras online

Palghar, Apr 17 (UNI) The Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar police arrested a 35-year-old man hailing from Odisha who allegedly cheated the victims by taking their cameras on rent and sold them off online.
Based on a complaint lodged by a photographer from Vasai with the Manikpur police station, the Crime Branch of the MBVV Police established identity of the accused with the help of the technical inputs and nabbed one Siddesh Sunil Mahale from Mumbai, police said.
Police have recovered 16 cameras and 9 lenses collectively worth Rs 25.06 ;lakhs during the searches.
He had sold the same on OLX to customers in Mumbai, Thane, Nagpur, Baramati, Pune, Surat, Raipur and other places and thus he had cheated several people.
Explaining his modus operandi, police said he had obtained SIM cards without any documents from Odisha and with the help of these cards created a fake OLX account under several aliases, got cameras on hire and then sold them on OLX to the needy and thus cheated the buyers.
Further investigation is underway, sources added
