Mumbai, Apr 18 (UNI) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Nana Patole on Sunday demanded that action be taken against Leaders of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis, Praveen Darekar and Prasad Lad for obstructing police action against owners of Brooke Pharma for allegedly stockpiling Remdesivir injections.
In a letter to state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Mr Patole stated that both Mr Fadnavis and Mr Darekar intervened and released the managers and owners of the company, which was stockpiling Remdesivir, on Saturday night.
Speaking in this regard, the MPCC chief said that acting on a specific information that a stock of 50,000 Remdesivir injections would come to Mumbai, police took into custody an officer of Brooke Pharma Company for questioning.
When the stockpiling of Remdesivir by a private person is not allowed at such crucial times, he stated and asked then how did a private person like Mr Fadnavis get permission to procure Remdesivir?
Have the Union Ministers allowed BJP and Mr Fadnavis to stockpile and black market Remdesivir?, he questioned.
Mr Patole demanded that action be taken against Mr Fadnavis, Mr Darekar and Mr Lad for their intervention during the police inquiry.
He said that the matter should be investigated thoroughly and the Remdesivir injection should be made available to the public immediately, he added.
