HYDERABAD: Task force police busted a cricket betting racket and arrested two persons on Saturday night. The accused were indulging in betting on IPL matches.
Acting on specific information, the South Zone Task force team raided a house at Moosabowli in HUssainialam on Saturday night. Police arrested two accused, Yogesh Yadav and Darmender Singh of Mangalhat. "The accused confessed that they have been working for the main bookie, A Sai of Jiyaguda. On the instructions of Sai, the duo has been collecting bet amounts from punters and distributing cash to winners," South Zone Task force inspector S Raghavendra said.
Police seized Rs 76,000 cash and two cell phones from the possession of the accused, who were conducting betting on the match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The two accused along with the seized items were handed over to Hussainialam for further investigation.
Prior to this, the South Zone Task force team busted two more IPL betting gangs. On Friday, Task force team raided a house in Bhavani Nagar area of the old city and arrested Fayeem for organising betting on the IPL matches. On Thursday night, South Zone team raided a house in Abids and arrested a bookie, Anshul. Police seized Rs 25,000 cash from his possession.
