My reaction to Jake Paul's win.

You’re leaving out that Askren is 35, had hip replacement surgery, and has the worst dad-bod in all of MMA. Also, his elite wrestling forced his opponents to be more cautious with their striking because he can easily take you down if you miss a power punch on him.
Half the misc could’ve probably beaten Askren in a boxing match. I’ve been doing light sparring with fighters at the MMA gym I go to and I don’t wanna say I’d have beaten Askren, but there’s literally nothing he does that scares me when it comes to boxing. I’d jump on that fight in a heartbeat.

He’s an athletic kid, packs some power. His actual boxing technique has noticeable flaws, he throws a lot of long hooks, often used to drop his lead hand after he jabbed although he seems to have fixed that issue, and he throws some looping overhands sometimes which he can get away with at that level of competition but at higher levels he’s going to need to tighten them up. But still quite good for only boxing for three years.
In my years of training I’ve seen some athletic guys really pick up things quickly, just naturally fast learners. Have good power and speed off the bat. On the flip side I’ve seen many guys who have been boxing for 5 or 10 years who are mediocre or even in some cases awful. They show very little improvement over time.
The Paul brothers are definitely in the former category. Although neither of them have been tested, if they were to fight local fighters at their weight and experience level they would likely be fighting higher caliber boxers than Askren and Robinson in most scenarios.
Sword, what is your prediction for Logan Paul vs Floyd? Do you think Paul gets outpointed and loses a decision or do you think Mayweather finishes him? I’m curious to see how Mayweather goes about dealing with Logan’s size, height, and reach. You can’t really pull counter as effectively on someone that much taller and longer than you, and turtling up in a philly shell and shoulder rolling against someone that much bigger than you who also happens to be a very athletic guy probably isn’t the best plan either. I think Mayweather is going to attempt to pressure Logan and smother him similar to what he did against McGregor later on. I’m also curious to see if Mayweather shows any new signs of slowing down at his age.Last edited by SicilianPower; Today at 11:23 PM.

All it makes you realise is that the skill cap in MMA hasnt even been close to reached. Which is why people like Khabib can dominate so hard, he is just a next gen fighter.
Athletics > Aesthetics
I guess its time to start training again.
