Actor Vivek cremated with full police honours

Chennai, Apr 17 (UNI) Tens and hundreds of people bade a

tearful adieu as the mortal remains of popular tamil film

comedian Padma Shri Vivek was consigned to flames with

full police honours on Saturday evening.

Hundreds of people, with a majority of them without face

masks, participated in his final journey from his Virugambakkam

residence to the crematorium where the last rites were performed

by his daughter.

Earlier, police honours were given to Vivek's body with

a 78-gun salute and the bugle sounding the last post.

The body of Vivek, who died early this morning after a

massive cardiac arrest, was brought to his residence

where actors, actresses from the film world, a large

number of his fans and public queued up to pay their

last respects.

Several political leaders, including MDMK General

Secretary Vaiko, actor-politician Naam Tamizhar Katchi

Founder Seeman, Minister D Jayakumar visited Vivek's

residence and paid their homage.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra

Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Tamil Nadu Governor

Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami,

Deputy Chief Minister O Paneerselvam, actor Rajinikanth,

actor and MNM Founder Kamal Haasan, DMK Chief M K Stalin,

PMK Founder Dr S Ramadoss and leaders of various political

parties, celebrities, cricketers R Ashwin, T Natarajan and

Washington Sundar condoled Vivek's death.
