GREATER NOIDA: A milk trader and his tenant going to Mathura to buy buffaloes were allegedly robbed of Rs 1.5 lakh at gunpoint by three men who offered them a lift from Pari Chowk.
In their complaint, Sunder Singh and Satvir Singh, both residents of Greater Noida, claimed that they were waiting near Pari Chowk for a commute to the Bajna area in Mathura district on Wednesday morning when the three accused men in a black vehicle offered to drop them off.
However, a few minutes into the journey, the accused allegedly claimed that the vehicle was a government vehicle and they needed to check the belongings of Sunder and his tenant Satvir before moving ahead. Soon they overpowered the duo and snatched the cash in their possession at gunpoint, police said.
“When we boarded the vehicle, two of the three men were seated at the back, while one was in front,” Sunder and Satvir said in their complaint. “But as soon as we reached Zero point, one of the men seated at the back seat said they needed to check if we were carrying any suspicious items. When we refused, another accused seated at the back whiffed out a gun while the one in front threatened us with a screwdriver.”
The trio allegedly snatched Rs 1 lakh from Sunder’s possession and Rs 50,000 from Satvir and after removing the batteries of their mobile phones, they dumped the two on the Yamuna Expressway and sped away. The two later reached the Beta II police station and lodged the complaint.
An FIR has been lodged in the case under IPC Section 392 (robbery) at the police station. “Several gangs are active in the area, which are resorting to such modus operandi. We are working on them,” Beta II SHO Santosh Tripathi said.
Earlier too, multiple cases of loot by such car-borne assailants have taken place in the Pari Chowk area, and cops had recently arrested some of the accused claiming that they were involved in the case.
