Telangana: Ballot box in progress for Nagarjunasagar rally

Hyderabad: Voting for the Nagarjunasagar by-election in Telangana began on Saturday morning amid tight security.

Voting started at 07:00 and will last until 19:00, with the last hour allotted covid patients.

In total, there are 2,20,300 voters in the constituency, the follow-up of which was necessary through the death of MLA Nomula Narasmhaiah of the ruling TRS.

Officials said voting was being held at 346 constituencies in the Nalgonda district.

Everyone Covid guidelines exist for the ballot box, with 5,535 staff deployed to oversee voting day activities.

The polling authorities organized 1,446 electronic voting machines.

The election will determine the political fortunes of 41 candidates.

According to the poll, the verdict of the TRS is against a reviving BJP, and Congress trying to return it to political interest in the state.

The TRS nominated Nomula Bhagat, the son of the late MLA, while Congress nominated its strongman and former minister K Jana Reddy. The BJP is represented by P Ravi Kumar Naik.

The bypol gained meaning after the BJP deducted the bypoll from the ruling TRS meeting in November last year.
