New Delhi: Premier Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the ongoing Kumbh in Haridwar must now participate symbolically due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Modi tweeted that he had telephoned Swami Avdheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara and inquired about the health of the saints, many of whom had contracted the infection, and also expressed his appreciation for their cooperation with the local government.
‘I prayed that two’ shahi snan ‘took place and that Kumbh (participation) should now be kept symbolic. “It will boost the fight against this crisis,” the Hindi prime minister tweeted.
In response to Modi’s call, Avdheshanand urged people not to bathe in large numbers after the Kumbh mela because of the COVID-19 situation and to follow the rules.
It is sacred to save someone and others’ lives, he added. The continuing Kumbh, which was attended by people in different parts of the country in large numbers, drew levels from different places as the number COVID-19 business has increased rapidly over the past few weeks. The event also reported that the coronavirus cases in large numbers.
The ongoing Kumbh has already been shortened from 1 to 30 April to just one month due to the pandemic. Under normal circumstances, the event, which takes place once every twelve years, is held from mid-January to April.
