Telangana: TSLSA extends financial assistance to relatives of deceased workers

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) has rescued to the rescue of relatives of the deceased workers who died accidentally while working in disorganized sectors by extending financial support from 30,000 to 6.30 lakh.

TSLSA’s executive chair, judge, MS Ramachandra Rao, handed out checks to the family members. D Jagadeeshwari received 6.30 lakh after her husband D Rama Krishna accidentally died while Srinivas, a Banjara Hills resident, received 1.30 lakh after the death of his mother Chinnamma. Tulasiram, a resident of Gudimalkapur, received Rs 30,000 as a pregnancy claim for his wife.

The family members thanked TSLSA for the help. In 2015 and 2016, the National Legal Services Authority formulated ten schemes to provide legal services to different categories of people, and one such scheme is the NALSA (Legal Services to Workers in the Disorganized Sector) Scheme 2015, intended for the well-being of workers in disorganized sectors.

Workers working in construction, domestic and other disorganized sectors have no jobs and no social security, and their families suffer greatly. The main purpose of NALSA is to extend legal services to workers working in disorganized sectors and to get benefits for them from the government.

Following Justice Ramachandra Rao, a special cell was established to ensure the well-being of workers, facilities in the workplace and to issue identity cards, in addition to exempting workers or their dependents from the government under various schemes and policies.

The state government has also set up a Social Security Council to investigate the welfare of workers in disorganized sectors in addition to the welfare boards for buildings and other construction workers.
