Hi All,
I do cardio immediately after I finish lifting and my trainer wants me to consume something as little as an apple or banana before I do cardio. According to him my gains doing lifting will go to waste if I do cardio without eating something first. Do you think he is right? I usually complete my workout (lifting and cardio) and then have a hearty meal with proteins and carbs.

As an aside to all this, OP, trainers want to make you think they hold some special voodoo knowledge that makes em special. They aren't in most cases. There is no magic to any of this. A well balanced diet with the proper calories on a daily basis is all you need to know. Everything else is just noise. Generally these people aren't well versed in nutrition. If a trainer motivates you to workout then more power to em however on the diet end don't listen to things that are too absolute
If you don't get what you want you didn't want it bad enough
Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
