Telangana records 3,840 fresh COVID-19 cases, nine fatalities until Thursday night

Hyderabad, Apr 16 (UNI) As the record COVID-19 cases continue to show surge in Telangana, the state logged the highest single-day fresh Coronavirus cases of 3,840 until 2000 hours on Thursday taking the total tally of the positive cases to 3,41,885 so far.

With the death of nine patients in the last 24 hours the overall toll in the state stands at 1,797 till date translating a case fatality rate of 0.52 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.2 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Friday.

A total of 1,198 people have recuperated from Coronavirus statewide pushing the cumulative number of recoveries thus far to 3,09,594 constituting a recovery rate of 90.55 per cent while the National recovery rate was 87.8 per cent.

The number of active cases in the state presently stands at 30,494 including 20,215 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.

Between Wednesday and Thursday, 1,21,880 swab samples were tested in the state to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 5,095 swab samples are pending.

As of Thursday, more than 1.14 crore COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) being the top contributor of the infection, registered a maximum of 505 fresh Coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajigiri district (407), Nizamabad district (303), Ranagareddy district (302), Sangareddy district (175), Jagityal district (167), Nirmal district (159), Kamareddy district (144), Karimnagar and Mahaboobnagar districts 124 cases each, Nalgonda district (116), Warangal Urban district (114), Khammam district (111) and Mancherial district (101).

The remaining new COVID-19 cases have been recorded by other districts, the bulletin added.
