#Kolkata: Assembly elections are being held in the state amid Corona panic. As the situation worsened, the commission called an all-party meeting on the election. After that meeting, on the night before the fifth round of elections, the Election Commission instructed to follow a set of new rules. According to this rule, after the fifth point, the commission directed to stop the campaign 72 hours before the remaining three-point vote.
The commission directed the political parties to campaign in accordance with all the tax rules. On behalf of the Election Commission, it was informed that no political campaign will be allowed from 6 pm to 10 am the next day. Moreover, the silence period before the election has been increased from 48 hours to 72 hours.
The fifth round of elections is going to be held in the state tomorrow. Then there are three more votes. In this situation, today’s all-party meeting mainly discussed in favor of continuing the election campaign and public meeting in accordance with the Kovid protocol. However, the Election Commission has not yet made any decision on the three-point and one-point voting.
Earlier, keeping Trinamool in mind, the Trinamool had requested the Election Commission to add clauses to end the election quickly. The speculation started after the last three rounds of elections (sixth point, seventh point and eighth point) were held in one day. On the other hand, the BJP had applied for the polls in three phases. However, after the all-party meeting in the commission, there is still no possibility to reduce the number of votes, the source said.
