PATIALA: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau, on Friday, nabbed three people — including a sub-inspector (SI), a head constable (HC) and a Punjab Home Guard (PHG) — red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 13,000.
The vigilance sleuths also registered a corruption case against their two accomplices, a sub-inspector and a head constable.
The officials said that SI Karnveer Singh, head constable Makhan Singh and PHG Virsa Singh, posted at city police station Samana in Patiala district, were nabbed red-handed on the complaint of Vinod Kumar of Patran, Patiala.
The complainant had approached the VB and alleged that the these accused were demanding Rs 25,000 to help him in a police case.
After verifying his information, the vigilance team from Patiala laid a trap and the three were arrested on the spot taking bribe of Rs 13,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
The officials said that a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against two SIs, two HCs and one PHG at VB police station Patiala.
