Security agency owner beaten up for asking to return stolen pet dog

Ghaziabad: A security agency owner in Ghaziabad was beaten up by some men in his locality after a dispute over a pet dog. The victim, identified as Pradeep Kumar Teotia, a resident of Vijay Nagar claimed that five men pointed a pistol at him and threatened him with dire consequences if his sister-in-law didn’t take back her police complaint against them alleging they had stolen her dog.
On Saturday, the dog went missing and the family filed a complaint against their neighbours -- Gopal and Govinda -- both are brothers.
Teotia, who owns Indian Teotia Security Service, said that on Sunday around 8.45 pm, he had gone to brief his security guards in Vijay Nagar when Gopal, Govinda and their associates threatened him with a pistol. “First, they threatened me with dire consequences if my sister-in-law didn’t take back her complaint. Then admitted that they had stolen the dog and sold it in the market. When I asked them to return the dog, they kicked and hit me with the pistol handle. They thought I was dead, so they fled from the spot after taking Rs 10,000 and a gold chain from me,” he said, adding that passersby informed the police. He added that the sub-inspector forced him to remove the robbery charge from my complaint. “When I complained to a higher officer, only then the complaint was lodged,” he said. An officer said that police reached the spot and took the victim to nearby hospital.
SP-City-1 Nipun Aggarwal said that an FIR has been lodged against against Gopal, Govinda, Deepak, Lala and Himanshu under Sections 147 (Rioting), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and 392 (Robbery) of IPC.
