Mumbai: Carrier’s body, AIMTC, described the recent reduction of 14-16 liters per liter in petrol and diesel prices in large cities as ‘striking’, and said there was still room to increase their prices by up to R 40 per liter. liters.
In a statement, the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), which claims to represent more than 95 lakh trucks and entities, says it is an open fact that this small reduction in petrol and diesel prices is affecting the election in four states – West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam.
Bal Milkit Singh, Chairman of the Indian Motor Transport Congress (Core Committee), said: ‘We welcome the minimal price reduction of petrol and diesel prices by about 14-16 liters per liter in large cities, which is due to the correction of the price of Brent crude to about $ 62 a barrel in early April 2021 from a high of $ 70 a barrel in early March 2021.
Currently, the prices of petrol and diesel in the national capital are at 90.40 and 80.73 respectively, he says. “This indicates that there is still room for reduction of more than Rs 40 in any case.” Singh said the price reduction was ‘cosmetic in nature and too little to make a tangible difference in the current scenario’.
To increase them further by more than Rs 40 “is the need of the hour and the people of the country need relief from the adverse fallout of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, ”he added.
