Belagavi, Apr 16 (UNI) Authorities have set up 2566 polling booths for tomorrow's by-election to Belagavi Lok Sabha seat and all arrangements were placed in order for the polling which was caused due to demise of Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi due to Corona in New Delhi.
Of the total polling booths, 587 has been identified as hyper sensitive and 118 as vulnerable and special security arrangements were made to maintain law and order, according to an official release here on Friday.
In all there are 10 candidates in the fray. While BJP has fielded Ms Mangala Angadi, wife of Suresh Angadi, to encash sympathy votes, Congress has fielded sitting MLA and former Minister Satish Jarkiholi. In all there are 18,13,567 voters, including 25,327 youth and 8.047 service voters.
Authorities have set up veb costing systems to 1283 polling stations. Sixteen Saki (women polling booths) set up in the district.
A total 200 Micro observer deployed to Non-critical polling stations and 159 video cameras installed. Total 132 ASI, 72 CISF Personals, 977 head constables, 1406 police constables and 905 Home guards will be deployed.
