Hyderabad: A 45-year-old Sarpanch from Ranga Reddy district died Wednesday night, allegedly two days after taking the first dose COVID-19 vaccine. According to reports, her last rituals were performed on Thursday without any post-mortem examination.
However, the district health authorities said her death was not related to the vaccine.
Sarpanch Rajamoni Mayuri from the town of Lingamdana took the jab in a primary health center in Keshampet Mandal on April 12th.
The New Indian Express quoted a family member of the Sarpanch as saying: ‘After vaccination she had a fever and vomited. Due to high fever she even had seizures. Her family became concerned about her condition on Wednesday and moved her to a hospital in Shamshabad. The doctors there said she was killed. ”
‘Some health department officials visited Mayuri’s family and said a post-mortem would be done but it did not take place. “Some officials at Mandal level later promised her family 10 million in compensation and included her children in the government’s residential school,” the family member said.
District physician K Swarajya Lakshmi said the sarpanch was a hypertensive patient and that it had thyroid-related problems and that her death was not related to the vaccine.
Her family requested an investigation.
