499 new cases of positive COVID 19 reported in Assam

Guwahati, Apr 16 (UNI) Total number of 499 new cases has been reported in Assam in last 24 hours.

As many as 255 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Guwahati (Kamrup Metro) amid the second wave of coronavirus.

With this, the total number of new cases reported in Assam summed up to 499 (on April 15). 85 patients in total were discharged from various hospitals, whereas one patient from Kamrup Metro succumbed to the infection caused by the virus on Thursday, as per the Health and Family Welfare Department.

The total number of COVID deaths in the state to date is 1,123.

Other high-case-load districts include Dibrugarh (64), Kamrup Rural (31), and Tinsukia (24).

Therefore, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the state as of April 15 is 3,613. With 499 new cases, Assam's positivity rate becomes 2.72%.

A total of 18,323 COVID-19 tests were conducted on Thursday, April 15, which brings the cumulative conducted tests in the state to 77,31,871.

Meanwhile, the cumulative total number of beneficiaries who have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Assam to date is 12,75,383. Whereas, the cumulative total number of beneficiaries who have received the second dose of the vaccine is 2,75,072.
