Fixing of coupon rates effective from 20 April 2021

Effective from 20 April 2021, the coupon rates of floating-rate bonds issued by Nykredit Realkredit A/S will be adjusted.

Mercedes-Benz sales in China hit 220,520 vehicles in the quarter, a rise of 60%, and outmatched the German carmaker's performance in Europe where they were up 1.8% to 192,302. "Favourable sales momentum at Mercedes-Benz Cars driven by all major regions, especially China, strongly supported the product mix and pricing in the first quarter," Daimler AG said in a statement on Friday.

    Gold jumped to its highest in over a month on Thursday as the dollar and U.S. Treasury yields retreated despite better-than-expected U.S. economic data, pushing more investors to bullion as a refuge against possible inflation ahead. Spot gold rose 1.7% to $1,766.13 per ounce by 11:07 a.m. EDT (1507 GMT), having earlier risen to $1,767.60, its highest since Feb. 26. "A massive amount of inflation is certainly on the horizon and gold is just the best asset to own as we start to see what I would consider some historic levels of inflation," said Jeffrey Sica, founder of Circle Squared Alternative Investments.

  • Coinbase’s Retail Buyers Stung After Plowing in at Debut

    (Bloomberg) -- Coinbase Global Inc. got a jump start on its first day of trading from the retail crowd. And the early enthusiasts likely walked away with a few bruises.Day traders purchased a net $57 million of the cryptocurrency exchange’s shares during its debut Wednesday on the Nasdaq Stock Market, according to data from VandaTrack. That total accounted for 7% of the $822 million individual investors spent on all U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds on the day, and made Coinbase the fifth-most popular debut with the demographic since 2017.They didn’t wait long to jump in.Nearly a third of all retail dollars spent on Coinbase Wednesday poured in during the first 20 minutes of trading as the shares soared by 13% from the opening price of $381 to an intraday high of $429.54. Retail buying tapered off as the initial euphoria waned and the shares paired their gains to finish the day below the opening trade price.Coinbase gained as much as 6.4% in early trading Thursday on news of a $246 million investment from Cathie Wood’s Ark Investment Management and positive analyst coverage, though the shares remained below their opening price.Tayo Kuku, a 27-year old photographer based in Washington, D.C., is among the cohort of investors who bought in. But within 10 minutes of purchasing the stock at $394 and a few conversations with his friends who are also buyers, it “made me realize that I probably didn’t make the best decision jumping in that quickly,” he said.“I obviously knew the risk of jumping in on a company as soon as it went public, but it just seemed like an obvious investment considering cryptocurrency has been the ‘next big thing’ for young investors like me.”Fortunately for Kuku, he managed to sell at a profit at $415. Though he left unscathed, he still plans to “keep an eye out and may possibly dip my feet back in in the next few weeks.”The debut of the first cryptocurrency exchange to list on a U.S. public market was widely hailed as ushering in a new era for the oft-mocked asset class. That drew the attention of retail traders who piled in at a level not seen since the debut of Rocket Cos., the parent of the mortgage giant founded by billionaire Dan Gilbert, making it the fifth most- popular new listing among the group since 2017.“It is pretty surprising to see such strong buying,” said Viraj Patel, global macro strategist at Vanda Research. “There was obviously a lot of hype around this and certainly Coinbase will be almost the best proxy for trading the crypto theme in the coming years.”On Fidelity’s platform Coinbase was the most traded stock on the day. More than 148,000 shares changed hands there, nearly nine times more than runner-up Tesla Inc., according to data from the brokerage.“What is fascinating about Coinbase is this is the first way in which individuals can take part in this new market for cryptocurrencies without being subject themselves to the volatility those currencies have,” Michael Wolf, the chief executive officer and co-founder of Activate, a technology consulting firm, said on Bloomberg Television. “We are going to see that Coinbase is going to be held widely -- at this market cap, it’s going to be held by index funds. It will allow small investors as well as individuals to take part in this entire move toward cryptocurrencies.”But for all the fanfare, Coinbase wasn’t the top pick of at-home traders on Wednesday.     Shares in Oxford Biomedica rose to their highest level since mid-March after the Covid vaccine manufacturer announced an investment drive thanks in part to its contract with AstraZeneca. It came as the company said sales last year rose 37pc to £87.7m, while revenue from its bioprocessing and commercial development division grew by nearly half to £68.5m, thanks in large part to cash generated by the deal with AstraZeneca to make the jab. This year the biotech expects another £50m sales bump from payments from Anglo-Swedish AstraZeneca and that demand for similar contract manufacturing and bioprocessing services will increase sharply. It was already in the process of expanding, completing the construction of a giant manufacturing facility called Oxbox, before the pandemic struck. Three of the four processing suites are being used to make the vaccine and the facility has capacity for four to six more suites. Chief executive John Dawson said he expects a “massive increase” in the work the firm carries out in cell and gene therapy and manufacturing, and the AstraZeneca money had given the firm “more leeway to invest in the platform”. “The platform is very important and investing in the technology will enable us to improve quality and the batch yields, making more doses per batch”. Shares in the FTSE 250 company rose 2p to £10.42. On the FTSE 100, pharmaceuticals company GlaxoSmithKline took the limelight as the second biggest winner among blue-chips on reports hedge fund activist Elliott Management had built up a multibillion-pound stake in the firm. Shares surged 58.8p to £13.48. UK markets had a strong session with the FTSE 250 sustaining recent momentum, closing 116.5 points higher to reach a record 22,472.04. The FTSE 100, meanwhile, hit its highest level since February 2020 to finish up 43.92 points, just shy of 7,000. Mining giants buoyed the benchmark index, with Antofagasta, Fresnillo and Polymetal all among the top risers. A pick up of iron ore prices due to tight near-term supply also helped lift the broader mining sector. “There are increasing signs that UK stocks are finally finding favour with investors as the UK economy embarks upon the next stage of its economic reopening,” said Michael Hewson, chief market analyst at CMC Markets. Helping to boost sentiment also was US stocks hitting fresh records on the back of higher than expected retail sales last month and lower than expected jobless claims in the past week, fuelling recovery optimism. In this light, FTSE 250 developer Countryside Properties was the top mid-cap riser, up 26p to 541p. It was followed closely by train ticket platform Trainline, which gained 16.6p to 489.8p, and housebuilder Crest Nicholson, which rose 13.4p to 428p. Elsewhere, London Stock Exchange Group jumped 146p to £79 after one of its major investors backed extra spending to fix problems at its new $27bn (£20bn) purchase of Refinitiv.
