Israel to reopen for vaccinated foreign tourists from May

Israel recently announced that from May, it will reopen the country to vaccinated foreign tourists. The country is gearing up to welcome visitors after more than a year, after it closed its borders due to the pandemic.

The Tourism Ministry stated that a limited number of tourist groups will be initially allowed to enter Israel starting May 23. As per the government’s pan, individual visitors will probably be allowed at a later stage. However, as per reports, all foreign tourists entering Israel will have to go through COVID tests before boarding flights to Israel, and must also be able to provide a serological test to prove that they have been vaccinated.

Israel has already suffered a major economic crisis due to the pandemic. However, in the recent months, Israel has carried out the highly successful vaccination program, which has helped it to reopen most sectors of the economy.

Israel Health Minister Yuli Edelstein said, “After opening the economy, it is time to allow tourism in a careful and calculated manner.”
