Hyderabad: With the daily number COVID-19 cases that increase exponentially, the state-run Gandhi Hospital will once again have a COVID-treatment center only. Instructions were issued on Friday, based on instructions from the Secretary of State (Health and Family Welfare), by the superintendent of the hospital to all heads of department to wipe out all other patients currently being treated there.
The circular, issued by dr. Raja Rao, superintendent at Gandhi Hospital, said all non-COVID and outpatient services are discontinued following the “rapid rise of COVID-19Matters that Telangana is currently facing. It added that only COVID-19 patients will be admitted to all wards in all departments. “The HODs of all the departments must prepare Duty Roster 24 hours a day and must be handed over to the Deputy Superintendent.”
The circular also stated that all departments must strictly follow the instructions. After the first COVID-19 cases were reported in Telangana in March last year, Gandhi Hospital was shortly afterwards converted into the nodal government hospital for treatment. It was the only center for everyone COVID patients in the state. However, shortly after things started to explode last year, the government in Telangana also started treating patients in other places.
In addition, the government has closed Gandhi Hospital in a COVID-installing can also anger some of the medical students currently doing their MBBS or master’s degree at Gandhi Medical College as their courses will be affected.
