From next week, Greece is keen on lifting its quarantine requirements for those coming from the European Union, United States, United Kingdom, Serbia, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates. However, the only conditions are that these travelers will have to produce either a vaccinated certificate or should carry a negative COVID-19 test certificate. The Mediterranean country has been quite aggressive about its proposed plans of reopening recently as it plans for a summer of recovery.
Greek officials last week have confirmed that this spring, the country will open up for tourists by introducing many initiatives to make sure that the sector returns without any bumps whatsoever. Random checking systems at various entry points and quarantine hotels for virus holders will be there along with vaccinations and testing. Furthermore, Greece highlights the significance of having those working in tourism vaccinated completely.
For Israeli travelers, Greece in last month ended a one-week quarantine rule. Now, it’s keen on expanding the relaxations. Applicable countries will be able to come in Greece and avoid quarantine after arriving at the airports of Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Chania, Rhodes, Kos, Mykonos, Santorini, and Corfu. Also, there are two border crossings that will be created to manage visitors.
People arriving from the approved countries will not have to get quarantined; if they can produce evidence that they have had two doses of a vaccine or have conducted a negative PCR test carried out 72 hours prior to arriving. Nonetheless, tourists could be subject to any domestic lockdown restrictions.
Currently, all international tourists in Greece have to test negative and quarantine for seven days after entering the country. Additionally, those flying in from the UK or UAE have to take a second mandatory test upon arrival.
