UGC Guidelines 2021: University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued instructions to all Indian universities to include National Cadet Corps (NCC) as General Elective Credit Course (GECC). According to the notice issued by the Commission on Thursday, 15 April 2021, the UGC has released the syllabus of NCC based on the recommendation received from the Directorate General of NCC through 24 credits for a total of 6 semesters to students while choosing the course. NCC 'B' and then NCC 'C' certificate will be issued to the students who have chosen this course for successful training. According to the update released by the UGC, the decision to make NCC available as a general elective credit course in universities is inspired by the provisions of the new National Education Policy. Explain that the 'Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)' has been recommended to be implemented in the undergraduate and higher-level courses in NEP 2020, under which students should be able to study the subject/course of their choice instead of studying the course/subject prescribed by the university. 24 credits in 6 semesters for NCC
As per the CBCS of NEP 2020 only the NCC B and C certificate syllabus has been designed by the Directorate of NCC for a total of 24 credits in 6 semesters in universities. According to the official update, a total of 4 credits have been allocated in the first two semesters, a total of 10 credits in the third and fourth semesters, and a total of 10 credits in the fifth and sixth semesters as well.
