Vijayawada, Apr 15 (UNI) The massive spike in fresh cases of Coronavirus continued in Andhra Pradesh as 5,086 new cases were reported while 14 more patients died in a period of 24 hours.
According to a health bulletin here on Thursday, 35,741 swab samples were tested in a period of 24 hours ending at 10 am today of which 5,086 were tested positive while 14 more patients died taking the total number of deaths to 7,353.
Large number of fresh cases 611 reported in Chittoor district, 568 in Srikakulam district and 450 in East Godavari district. There are 31,710 active cases in the state. The total number of positive cases has risen to 9,39,240 while 9,00,177 have been discharged as they recovered. So far 1,55,70,201 swab samples have been tested in AP.
Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy reviewed the Coronavirus pandemic situation with the officials here on Thursday. The Chief Minister said that so far 6.28 lakh doses of vaccine had been administered across the state and directed the officials to expedite the vaccination programme.
The officials said the positivity rate is 6.03 percent and 108 hospitals are under the health department for COVID treatment. The officials informed that 15,669 beds are available of which 4,889 are occupied and 1,987 ventilators are available and added that 22,637 patients are in home isolation.
