Kia will exhibit a new compact electric sedan, the EV6, at the Shanghai auto show, its China joint venture, Dongfeng Yueda Kia, said.
The EV6, revealed online earlier, was Kia’s first product developed on the Hyundai Motor's global E-GMP EV platform.
It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour within 3.5 seconds
Fully charged, the vehicle has a range of 600 km under the NEDC. It can drive for up to 100 km after the batteries are recharged for 4.5 minutes, according to Dongfeng Yueda Kia.
Two redesigned Kia models -- the Sportage crossover and the Carnival multi-purpose vehicle -- will also make their China debut at the Shanghai auto show.
Another Korean brand, Hyundai, launched sales of the elongated Tucson crossover in China this week at a starting price of 161,800 yuan ($24,800). Hyundai hasn’t disclosed what it will display at the Shanghai show.
