Asian markets end mixed after mixed show from Wall Street

SGX Nifty was 1.75% lower while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng also dropped over 100 points.

Markets ended mixed in Asia on Thursday as investors applied the brakes to a recent rally amid concerns over economic revival.

The underwhelming performance followed a tepid lead from Wall Street. Overnight, US stocks closed mixed as Dow Jones gained 50 points while Nasdaq lost over 1%, reversing Tuesday's gains when the Nasdaq was an outlier.

Asian markets opened in the green led by the Japanese Nikkei which saw most large cap energy stocks lead the gainers. Nikkei closed higher by 21.7 points or 0.07%. Australian ASX 200 closed 0.51% higher while markets in New Zealand closed marginally lower.

Chinese stocks saw a strong session yesterday but fell again on Thursday with Shanghai Composite closing 0.52% lower and Shenzhen 0.42% lower. SGX Nifty was 1.75% lower while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng also dropped over 100 points.

Markets in Taiwan, Malaysia and Jakarta closed higher while it was lower in Thailand.
