IPL 2021 Purple Cap – Harshal Patel leads the Purple Cap Race: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Harshal Patel continued his fine form, bagging three wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad to move to the top of the Purple Cap leaderboard with 7 wickets from two matches. Kolkata Knight Riders’ Andre Russell with 5/15 against Mumbai Indians slipped to second.

DC’s Avesh Khan with 3 more wickets against RR moved to the 3rd spot while DC Indians’ Chris Woakes climbed to the 4th spot.

Rules for IPL Purple Cap

  1. The award is given to the leading wicket-taker of the IPL season.
  2. The bowler with the most wickets in the tournament during the season would wear the Purple Cap while in the field.
  3. In case of a tie, the Purple Cap is given to the bowler with a superior economy rate.
