2 rapists held in Kendrapada district

KENDRAPADA: Two persons, who had allegedly gang raped a 23-year-old married woman on November 7, 2019, at a village under Jamboo marine police station in Kendrapada district and were on the run for two years, were arrested on Tuesday night.
Both the accused, Umesh Mandal (37) and Ranjit Mandal (38), were apprehended from their hideouts, police said. After committing the heinous crime both the accused managed to flee the village. “Acting on a tip-off , we arrested them,” said IIC of Jamboo marine police station Maheswar Sethi.
During interrogation , both the arrested persons confessed that they gang raped her while she was alone in the house.
