Maharashtra lockdown news live: Raigad records 1,243 Covid-19 cases, 14 fatalities

Maharashtra registered over 60,000 Covid-19 cases for the third time this month along with 349 deaths -- the second highest addition in the second wave. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, in two letters to PM Modi on Tuesday, raised concerns over the spike in Covid cases in Maharashtra and stated that according to projections, the state’s caseload is expected to double from 5.64 lakh to 11.9 lakh in the next two weeks. To meet the growing demand for oxygen at medical facilities, the administration in Maharashtra's Aurangabad district has acquired the oxygen plant of a steel factory here, an official said on Friday. Collector Sunil Chavan said a team of officials has been appointed to ensure smooth supply of the life-saving gas from the plant, belonging to R L Steel in Chitegaon of Paithan.

People flouting curbs to be tested for Covid-19 in Aurangabad

The civic body in Maharashtra's Aurangabad city has appointed 12 teams to take action against people roaming around in public without any valid reason despite the Covid-19 curbs, an official said on Friday. As a deterrent, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will make violators undergo Covid-19 tests, municipal commissioner Astik Kumar said in a tweet.

As many as 1,243 persons tested positive for coronavirus and 14 died of the infection in Maharashtra's Raigad district, an official said on Friday. With the latest cases reported on Thursday, the tally of infections in the district has reached 86,467, of which 75,433 patients have recovered from the disease, the official said.
