Brazil mobile base grows for eight month in a row

The Brazilian mobile telephony market continued its positive growth trend for the eight month in a row, with the number of users increasing to 238.5 million in February from 235.4 million the previous month, Anatel reported. That's equal to a 98.7 percent penetration rate. Postpaid accounted for 51.5 percent of the total, and prepaid stood at 48.5 percent, while 4G was used on 75.2 percent of lines and 3G by 13.6 percent. Vivo maintained the lead with a 33.3 percent share of mobile lines, ahead of Claro (27.4%), TIM Brasil (21.7%), Oi (15.8%), Algar Telecom (1.1%) and others (0.7%).
