A 30-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of Cape Town police officer Sergeat Malose Lebelo who was shot dead at the weekend.
Lebelo's body was found in Disa Street, Capricorn on Sunday.
Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said the 38-year-old sergeant was stationed at Steenberg police station.
He was off duty at the time he was attacked and shot.
The Hawks' National Priority Violent Crime team and the National Intervention Unit made a breakthrough when they found Lebelo's official firearm after a search based on information they had gathered, said Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani.
After that, the 30-year-old was arrested on Tuesday and taken in for questioning. He was charged on Thursday.
He is expected to appear in the Simon's Town Magistrate's Court on Friday.
