While complaining to Mumbai Police, he also urged that there should be some clarity as to whether online food deliveries are allowed after 8PM or not.
“Zomato is prepared to provide the essential food delivery service post 8pm in Mumbai, but we are not doing so because we are abiding by the letter of the law.I see our competition is continuing to operate post 8pm. I urge @MumbaiPolice to please clarify the way forward here,” tweeted Goyal.

Mumbai Police quickly responded saying that Goyal should read the government notification where it is already mentioned that home deliveries are allowed.
“Kindly read the Govt Notification. It says that Home Delivery is allowed but there is no time limit specified,” responded Mumbai Police to Goyal’s tweet.
Zomato was only operating between 7AM and 8PM during the ongoing curfew to tackle the rising Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra. However, it turns out that food deliveries are exempt from any curfew restrictions.
Meanwhile, Goyal said sorry to Swiggy for complaining and also confirmed that Zomato will start servicing orders as usual
“Thank you. Mumbai, we are on tomorrow. We have received the notice at 9:54pm. @swiggy_in - I am sorry, had no other choice. I love you,” Goyal tweeted.

The Delhi government has also enforced a similar night curfew along with weekend curfew to stop the rapid spread of the virus. But the government has clarified that there would be no restrictions on online delivery of food and other essentials.
