As things begin to return to quasi-normalcy, many are already planning their vacations abroad for later this year.

However, for many, the barrier to traveling is the arduous processing of securing a passport. But the Jefferson County District Clerk’s office looks to ease that burden on May 22 with a special “Passport Day.”

The office will be opening its doors from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for those looking to secure passport, according to a news release. No appointments are required to apply for passport, and routine and expedited services are available. Passport photo services will also be available.

Information on how to apply for a passport — including the necessary documents and fees — can be found at travel.state.gov. Passport applications also are available online and at the clerk’s office.

The Jefferson County District Clerk’s office emphasized completed forms must be signed in the presence of one of their agents, and all fees must be paid by check or money order payable to U.S. DEPT. OF STATE, the news release said.
