Apple is supposedly having a new Apple Pencil to launch at its upcoming “Spring Loaded” event alongside the new iPad Pro models. This tip is coming from the microblogging site Weibo in China.
As the tech publication 9to5Mac points out, the tipster has a pretty good track record for being accurate mostly. So, we would like to bet on this one; Also because, let’s admit it, despite so many reports and leaks, we still do not know what exact products Apple will bring to the event. So, there is no harm in believing that it will launch alongside the new iPad Pro models.
Apart from its possible launch at the April 20th event, the tipster hasn’t shared any other details. The only leak that managed to come out last month shared an alleged picture of an Apple Pencil. Overall, it doesn’t look different from the existing one. The only difference is the leaked one looks glossier.
Note that Apple last upgraded its Apple Pencil back in 2018, alongside the 2018 iPad Pro model. Currently, Apple sells both the first-generation and second-generation Apple Pencil. This is because some iPads, like the 9.7-inch iPad and iPad mini, are not compatible with the second-generation Pencil.
Earlier this year, a new patent application was spotted on USPTO that indicated the upcoming Apple Pencil could sense more gestures. It may recognize gestures like the swipe and more comprehensive touch-sensitive control.
The April 20th Spring Loaded event is just around the corner and such last-minute tips can prove to be quite helpful in telling us what else we can expect from Apple.
