RR vs DC in IPL 2021 – Rajasthan Royals Playing XI: David Miller is all set to return to RR playing XI when Sanju Samson & Co will take on confident Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday. The South African batsman will have a lot to prove as he fills in for injured Ben Stokes. The English all-rounder was ruled out after injuring his left-hand finger. Miller, who has joined the squad recently and is lacks training, will have a big responsibility to support Samson and also provide depth in the batting department.

After playing for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) over a number of years, Miller was bought by RR for INR 75 lakh during the IPL 2020 Auction. However, he featured in just one game as RR had already covered their overseas base with Steve Smith (now in Delhi Capitals), Stokes, Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler.

But the RR team management retained him for IPL 2021, keeping in mind his ability to single-handedly change the course of the match.

His 38-ball ton against RCB in his in 2013 is still one of the finest ever in IPL history. The left-handed batsman has grown to become South Africa’s middle-order mainstay and will be an important member of RR.

It is likely that RR will promote Jos Buttler to the opening slot with Manan Vohra. Captain Sanju Samson will resume his duties at No.3. Miller will be RR’s No.4 and is likely to be given a role of an anchor.

The middle-order will comprise Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube and Rahul Tewatia. Meanwhile, RR’s INR 16.25 crore Chris Morris, Shreyas Gopal, Chetan Sakariya and Mustafizur Rahman will be the last four.
