Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced a weekend curfew in the national capital amid a massive surge in Covid-19 cases.
"Around 5000 beds are free, according to latest data," Kejriwal said, stressing on the fact that there is no shortage of hospital beds in the city.
Steps are also being taken to increase the number of beds to deal with the sudden spike.

Delhi, the worst-hit city in the country, recorded its highest single-day surge since the onset of the pandemic on Wednesday, logging in 17,282 fresh cases in 24 hours.
The Capital also saw over 100 deaths, pushing the toll to 11,540, the health department data showed.
Reeling under the fourth wave of COVID-19, the national capital on Tuesday recorded 13,468 cases and 81 deaths.
The national capital conducted record 1.08 lakh tests on Wednesday, the health bulletin said, adding, the positivity rate mounted to 15.92 per cent.

- Essential services will be allowed. People travelling to and from airport and railways stations will be given curfew passes.
- Weddings that have been scheduled can also go ahead with curfew passes.
- Malls, gyms, auditoriums, spas to remain closed.
- Only one weekly market per zone allowed.
- Cinema halls to function with 30% capacity.
- No dine-in allowed. Restaurants can only offer home delivery services.
