Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced sweeping restrictions, including a weekend curfew and the closure of malls, gyms, spas and auditoriums, in a bid to break the chain of Covid infections in the city. There would be no in-house dining in restaurants and cinema halls would be allowed to operate with only 30 per cent capacity, the chief minister said at an online press conference a day after the city recorded the biggest single-day jump 17,282 new Covid-19 cases. Kejriwal said essential services and weddings would not be affected during the weekend curfew and passes would be provided to those attending weddings. The chief minister also said there was no shortage of hospital beds and over 5,000 were still available for Covid patients. Efforts to increase beds on a large scale will also be made, he assured. Gurugram: Patients in home isolation using Remdesivir, hospitals face shortage
Around 200 Covid patients who are in home isolation in the city have been found to have used Remdesivir injection, a hospital-only drug, after getting it prescribed from doctors known to them, the health department has learnt. Several private hospitals have been found administering Remdesivir to home isolation patients after conducting video consultation. Officials said these patients had got the injection prescribed from doctors they know and had contacted the hospitals to get the medicine delivered at home. Some of these patients were also learnt to have got the medicine prescribed by doctors from other states.
