Noida/Ghaziabad: Gautam Budh Nagar reported four
Covid deaths on Tuesday, taking the district’s
toll to 97.
While a 75-year-old man who was in home isolation after testing positive passed away on Monday, an 80-year-old man who was at Noida Covid Hospital died during treatment. The other two deaths were on April 4 and 11 but they were added to the tally on Tuesday. One was a 48-year-old woman from Noida and the other was a 25-year-old man from Mirzapur in Dankaur who passed away at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS). “Both died due to acute respiratory distress syndrome and infection in the lungs. Their entries were made late on Monday due to some technical glitch,” said Dr Sunil Dohare, district data monitoring officer, GB Nagar.
This year, seven deaths have been reported. While the first was on January 5, six deaths were recorded this month alone. On April 5, an 85-year-old woman from Arihant Arden in Noida Extension had passed away. On April 6, a 37-year-old man from Yakubpur had died. Before this, on November 24 last year, three people had died in Noida.
Talking about the deaths on Monday and Tuesday, district magistrate Suhas LY said: “Both patients had comorbidities.”
On Tuesday, there were 1,602 active cases and 229 fresh cases were reported. In all, 55 people have recovered in the past 24 hours. The tally is at 27,957. So far, 26,258 people have recovered.
On Tuesday, Ghaziabad reported 199 fresh cases, the highest daily tally so far this year. In all, 28,566 cases have been reported. Meanwhile, 52 people were discharged from hospitals and released from home isolation and so far, 27,399 patients have recovered.
There are 1,063 active cases. Two deaths have been reported this year and both were in April. The
death toll is 104.
