Homeowners Find Giant Monopoly Board Under Their Carpet During Renovation
Homeowners got an incredible surprise after discovering a giant Monopoly board underneath their carpet.
It appears the couple were in the process of renovating their home, when they decided to strip out the floor in one of the rooms.
Rather than old floorboards or even tiles, the pair found a hand-drawn supersized version of the popular board game.
A snap was shared to Reddit by one of the couple's relatives, under the name Yamaha234.
"While tearing up their carpet, my in-laws found a giant monopoly board," they wrote.
The snap shows a perfect replica of the American version of the game, with the massive board taking up most of the floorspace.
The artist had painstakingly copied out all 40 descriptions, and their prices, including Reading Railroad, Vermont Avenue, Oriental Avenue, Connecticut Avenue, Chance, Income Tax and Community Chest.
And they had even included each set's colour, which had inevitably faded over time.
The photo shows other marks beneath the board, indicating the previous owners may have doodled other games on the floor.
The snap quickly attracted attention on the site, with more than 1,000 people commenting on the quirky find.
And the poster revealed they were trying to convince their in-laws to preserve the intriguing décor.
Yamaha234 added: "Trying to convince them to cover it in epoxy and do the rest of the flooring around it how they originally wanted."
Commenting on the find, Jbruce1988 wrote: "As a carpet installer I'm going to think about this daily lol, maybe I'll get lucky and find another."
ChildofAlanWatts suggested: "Pull up your other carpets to see what other games are underneath."
While Okram2k said: "At least play one oversized game of monopoly on it before you cover it up."

Monopoly was originally called The Landlord's Game, and was devised by Lizzie Magie in 1903.
It was later rebranded Monopoly and distributed widely in 1935, and now features locations from most European countries, Australia, the U.K, Russia, Japan, Turkey and India.
Various pieces have been used over the years, including the battleship, boot, cat, iron, Scottie dog, thimble and top hat.
The popular game, now owned by Hasbro, now boasts more than 20 different themed-variations, including Disney, Star Wars, Super Mario and Ghostbusters.
