The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has reportedly received over 1 000 complaints about Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's performance of their track WAP at the 2021 Grammys.
The artists' act included pole dancing, twerking, and some risqué dance moves on a giant bed.
Now, according to Rolling Stone, the performance has drawn in over 1 000 complaints from viewers in the US, with some referring to it as "pornography".
Viewers also claimed that the performance objectified women, with one calling out host Trevor Noah's "drooling, sweating, screaming wrap up like he was at a strip club".
According to Complex, complaints started streaming in just days after the show took place on 14 March. Back then, the number of grievances was pegged at "80 or so", the publication reports.
In one of the older complaints, a viewer said that Cardi and Megan performed "as if they were dancing in a strip club", while another added that "the outfits they were wearing and the movements they did were absolutely disgusting."
But this harsh criticism is not anything new to Cardi B. The rapper has seen her fair share of backlash since releasing WAP in 2020.
In an interview with i-D, Cardi opened up about the negative reaction the song received from conservative men, saying that while she was surprised, she remained unfazed. "They keep talking and the numbers keep going up," she told the publication at the time.
