MOHALI: Police have arrested a 24-year-old youth for allegedly harassing a government school teacher in Kurali. The accused has been identified as Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Kharar.
The victim’s husband alleged the incident took place on April 6 at 10.30am, when he received a call from his wife. She told him that when she reached the school, Jaspreet, who used to study earlier at the school, followed her and asked her that why she had put his number in the block list. “He threatened her that if she doesn’t talk to him, he will die. He then abused her and touched her inappropriately,” the complaint alleged.
Cops said Jaspreet has been produced in a local court following which he will be sent to judicial custody after his Covid-19 test report, according to the protocol.
A case under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354-D (stalking), 294 (obscene acts and songs), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.
